Coms issues between people on the right side of everyday design and those who aren’t

March 15, 2012

My comment to a fellow passenger just now that the metal arm rest separating the upper deck back seat row on this new 73 hybrid bus is badly designed was met with a familiar vacant stare but i don’t blame them.

It’s because i so often end up on the wrong side of things like this i am very aware of design flaws in everyday Things, but as most people i meet out and about don’t, i should not be surprised that these issues are far back in their minds.

Most interesting thing about these little social interactions is how it seems the default attitude is not to hear what i am saying but instead be thrown into confusion. Should i train myself not to make design related comments or is there a neat way to comment so as to recruit a new inclusive design campaigner?
